We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to inform you about a recent development regarding one of the products that was offered in our school cafeteria.
It has come to our attention that a specific product, Quaker chewy bars in the flavors of chocolate chunk and cookies and cream, served in our cafeteria has been recalled due to possible contamination of salmonella.
The safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities, and we take this matter very seriously. As soon as we were made aware of the recall, we took immediate action to remove the affected product from our inventory and cease its distribution. However, it is believed that this snack bar was sold at our High School and also placed in sack lunches for Leon Taylor Middle School boys athletics who traveled for a game on December 18, 2023.
According to a report from the Food and Drug Administration, to date Quaker has received NO confirmed reports of illness related to the products covered by this recall.
If your child has consumed the recalled product and you have any concerns about their health, we strongly recommend that you consult with your healthcare provider. Please inform them about the specific details of the product and the reason for the recall.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate through this matter. The safety of our students remains paramount, and we are committed to maintaining the highest standards in our food service operations.
We are attaching a photo of what the Quaker chewy bar looks like below for your review.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 361-776-2712, ext 2571.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
IISD Administration

INGLESIDE BOARD OF TRUSTEES NAMES FINALIST FOR SUPERINTENDENT
Ingleside, TX –December 13, 2023– The Ingleside Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees, at its December 13, 2023 meeting, named William Scott Kilgore of Ingleside ISD, as its finalist for superintendent. By law, the Board must now wait 21 days before voting to hire Kilgore to be the new Superintendent for Ingleside ISD. Kilgore is slated to replace out-going Superintendent, Troy Mircovich.
The Board has followed a lengthy process in determining the finalist. In September 2023 the Board hired Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services to direct the search. TASB consultants provided an online survey to gather leadership qualities of the new superintendent. The profile developed from the survey was the yardstick used by the Board and consultants in evaluating the applicants for the position.
The Board selected eight applicants for initial interview and then three applicants were invited back for a second interview. The Board is scheduled to vote to offer a contract to Mr. Kilgore on January 8, 2024. Mr. Kilgore has served as Director of Safety and Student Services in Ingleside ISD since 2021.

For the month of December, Debbie Alvarado, of Ingleside Primary School was selected for the Family Matters Award!
She was recognized during our School Board Meeting, where she was celebrated for her outstanding efforts. She was also awarded $100 from the Ingleside ISD Education Foundation. Below is an excerpt from the nomination that was submitted on her behalf.
"Mrs. Alvarado is usually the first person that greets any new family member to Ingleside ISD as they register their child at Ingleside Primary. Her friendly demeanor and warm personality is one that resonates with families for years to come. In addition, her hospitality just eases parents' tensions as they enter the front doors, at IPS, and makes them feel comfortable. If you ask any colleague, they would tell you that her laughter is contagious and makes everyone smile. She is also attentive to every parent, student, and employee need. Even though she wears many hats, Mrs. Alvarado always communicates information in such a timely fashion. Ingleside Primary School appreciates her commitment, dedication, organizational skills, and family oriented values. Because Mrs. Alvarado has been the first person, for the past twenty years, to welcome our parents to their new Mustang Family, I couldn’t think of someone more deserving of this recognition."
We encourage you that if you witness an employee who goes above and beyond and demonstrates actions or qualities that are worthy of celebrating, to tell their story and help us recognize them! The nomination form is located on the district website at www.inglesideisd.org ,under the 'About Us' section of the Menu.
Congratulations, Mrs. Alvarado! We're so happy you're a part of the Family at IISD.

Ingleside ISD district officials have been made aware of an email with a potential threat that is circulating regarding the target of multiple schools statewide. To be clear and transparent, at this time, Ingleside ISD has NOT received the email threat.
Safety is a top priority at Ingleside ISD. District officials have met and been in communication with the Ingleside Police Department. While we do not believe this to be a credible threat, local law enforcement will be conducting increased patrols around campuses. In addition, the District is prepared to implement standard response protocols (SRP) if needed, and our district safety staff members have been notified and are on task.
If there any updates to the situation, we will be in further communication with parents and staff.

For the month of November, Lennea Jenkins, of Leon Taylor Middle School was selected for the Family Matters Award!
She was recognized during our School Board Meeting, where she was celebrated for her outstanding efforts. She was also awarded $100 from the Ingleside ISD Education Foundation. Below is an excerpt from the nomination that was submitted on her behalf.
"Mrs. Jenkins thrives while working with students on campus at LTMS. Time and time again she meets students where they're at, but has an amazing talent of lifting students up and encouraging them to grow from that point. Her students performing exemplary on the STAAR test is a given, but her table extends to those who are in her department. Two days a week, she volunteers to hold tutorials for teachers in her department just so that they do not feel overwhelmed themselves. She then goes into those same teachers' classrooms during her conference period and offers extra help to them, just because she wants to see the kids succeed. Her dedication to her students is second to none, and the obvious admiration that her former students have for her is something remarkable and uncanny. She is at every sporting event encouraging current and former students, and can get more out of students by just being an added presence who demonstrates how she cares about them. There is never a moment of "this is too much," or, "these kids are going to struggle," it's always the attitude of assess and adjust. No excuses, they can win. She is easily one of the best math teachers in the state, but more importantly she is fully committed to Ingleside excellence and has adopted this place as her home and family."
We encourage you that if you witness an employee who goes above and beyond and demonstrates actions or qualities that are worthy of celebrating, to tell their story and help us recognize them! The nomination form is located on our website under the 'About Us' section of the Menu. To learn more about the Family Matters Award, click here.
Way to go, Ms. Jenkins! We are so glad you're part of the family at Ingleside ISD.
