For the month of February, Bernard Thomas, of Leon Taylor Middle School was selected for the Family Matters Award! He was recognized during our School Board Meeting, where he was celebrated for his outstanding efforts. He was also awarded $100 from the Ingleside ISD Education Foundation. Below is an excerpt from the nomination that was submitted on his behalf. "Coach Thomas is more than just a teacher, he is a mentor who makes a lasting impact on his students, especially the middle school boys he coaches and teaches. His constant smile and positive attitude create a supportive environment where students feel encouraged and motivated, whether in the classroom or on the court/field. Beyond teaching history, Coach Thomas connects with his students, making lessons engaging and meaningful. My student athlete and his peers truly enjoyed his class, and he brought history to life in a way that sparked their interest. My son became especially interested in history his 7th grade year and could explain monuments and historical events during our trip to the Capital. His leadership goes beyond the classroom to on the court and field. He teaches teamwork and resilience. The boys respect and admire him, not just as a coach but as a role model who leads with integrity, dedication, and passion. His ability to balance teaching and mentorship helps shape the boys into responsible and confident young men."
